I'm assembling a shoebox for the 2013 Shoebox Project for Shelters over the year after we received the suggestion that time and money are tight during the end of year holidays. This page documents what I put in my shoebox each month and the cost. Links on the month are to the specific post about that month. I also have a list of favourite items (according to shelters and shoebox recipients) that were in the boxes.

January
Get a shoebox!
Items included: toothbrush, toothpaste, dental floss -$6.00 (replaced in Nov w/ Starbucks Gift Card)
Other thoughts: nail file, emery board, tweezers, compact with mirror

February
Items included: "spa" kit (nail brush, emery board, foot file, cuticle sticks & toe separators) - $5.99 PLUS a fold-away resuable tote (free to me)
Other thoughts: Gloves or scarf

March
Items included: Scented candle in travel tin - $5.99
Other thoughts: Brush, hair ties

April
Items included: no update
Other thoughts: Cotton face wipes or other personal care

May
Items included: Face wash - $8.00 PLUS a makeup pouch - free!
Other thoughts: Makeup or tolietry pouch, small flashlight (WITH batteries!)

June
Items included: no update
Other thoughts: Nylon shopping bag in a pouch, tea sachets

July
Items included:
Other thoughts: Transit tickets or tokens

August
Items included:
Other thoughts: Gift card (Tim Hortons, Cineplex)

September
Items included:
Other thoughts: Perfume, scented lotion

October
Items included:
Other thoughts: Lip balm, lip gloss, eye makeup

November
Items included: Scarf, eye makeup, nail polish, chocolate
Other thoughts: Chocolate

December
Deliver the box!
