Just discovered this super-cute web series by Amy Poehler, Meredith Walker and Amy Miles. They talk to young girls and celebrate their accomplishments. Awesome! Though sadly the iTunes subscription isn't available in Canada (though you can still watch on the site).

Yay, they're allowing athletes to blog - but the restrictions still seem pretty onerous. When you look at this in the larger context of the shift that is happening from a few people having a global publishing platform to EVERYONE having a global publishing platform, it is painfully obvious that our ideas about "ownership" need to change. No pictures of medal ceremonies? C'mon - if I'm an athlete, a medal winner and I have a blog, I would really want my mom to snap a picture of me getting my medal and then publish it.

On Saturday, May 30, 2009, Canadians will have an opportunity to purge their clutter, empty their garages, attics and basements and help raise funds for the fight against breast cancer. Now in its 5th year, Yard Sale for the Cure (yardsaleforthecure.com) is a national fund-raising event that was founded by Rachael Smith and inspired by her desire to give back to those who helped her win her battle against breast cancer. What began in 2005 as a small community event has now grown into a collective fund-raising effort that to date has raised over $450,000.
