Wikilobbying ... Stephen Colbert's ongoing love affair with Wikipedia

In an excerpt on Monday night's show discussing Microsoft paying someone to edit its entries on Wikipedia, he coined a new term: Wikilobbying.

Wikilobbying: When money determines wikipedia entries and reality has become a commodity.

Is this what we can look forward to for the US election?  This is a very serious issue and one that election candidates must be ready for.

Is this the future of marketing?

It's the very antithesis of the authenticity and transparency that social media advocates like myself call for each day.

Watch Colbert's video. (I tried to embed it from Comedy Central but it never loaded, and it doesn't seem to be up on YouTube yet).

What does it mean when reality becomes a commodity?  We're already seeing this to some degree through the general erosion of trust of institutions.  How much more trust can we afford to have eroded?  If we can't trust each other, who do we trust?  And how do we verify identity.

These will be the issues of Web 3.0 and beyond.

Looking for a blog editor for the Mac

If you follow my del.icio.us links closely (and I know you all do), you may have noticed that I've been bookmarking some Mac software links lately.

Why?  you ask.

Yes, that's right.  I have joined the cult of Mac.  I've had my MacBookPro for 11 days now.

We're still getting used to each other.  I've transferred my iTunes library over.  Am getting to know the "Apple" key.  But there are a few things I miss.  Visio (I know, Omni Graffle).  Trillian (I know, Fire.  Or Prometheus.)  I'm getting to those.

But the one thing I haven't found is a replacement for Microsoft's Live Writer.  This was the one piece of software that I really think MS got right.  Best blog editor I ever used.  Simple, elegant, not over designed or feature-laden.  Perfect for what it did.

But, of course, only for Windows.

Mosley posts about MarsEdit.  It's OK.  It doesn't integrate photos as nicely as Live Writer.  I know I'm spoiled and maybe a little belligerent.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

Is Marketing the "dark side"?

Interestingly, this is what I believe actually needs to happen.  Both marketers and developers embracing what they perceive as "the dark side" to bring a more effective and delightful experience/product to their *shared* customer.

But hey, that's just me.
