So, this is vaguely disturbing yet compelling .. like most good viral stuff is. Office Max has created a fun little activity, Elf Yourself, where you upload a photo of yourself, crop it to fit the elf and then watch yourself perform a hilarious elf version of the macarena.
You can also record an audio message to go along with it.
To pass along, you can send it to a friend (although I sent mine 10 minutes ago and still hadn't received it).
This is fun, fast and personalised (all key for potential viral-ness) but it's very web 1.0. There is no code for me to grab to embed it on my blog. I had to use Snagit (a tool I LOVE) to snap this pic.
Marketers ... your customers want to own the content they create; even the content they create with your help. Give them a way to easily share these snippets on their own space, not yours.
