So this is pretty exciting. Brad Grier of CanuckTek sent me an email today about the CAA's recent launch of CAA Driver's Seat, their new blog. It's hosted by CAA president David Flewelling who wants to engage Canadians about issues of traffic safety and other consumer driving concerns.
It looks like a great start out of the gate ... here are the things I really like about it as a corporate blog:
- It states who is writing it (or at least who is purports to be from); this gives us context
- It has a purpose and states it up front, setting the expectation with customers about the conversations it wants to have
- It's been seeded with a few solid posts about a variety of topics that will appeal to different audiences
- The writing is quite good ... and posts all end with a question or two, designed to evoke engagement
- They are cross posting in French!
- They promote their feed
Now, if anyone were *asking* me :-) these are the very small things I would change:
- Instead of saying "No comments", change the language to invite comments
- Enable trackbacks
- Let visitors know, on the post page, that comments are moderated. I actually have no problem with comments being moderated .. it would just be nice to know ahead of time.
That all being said, those are some pretty small "I would do X differently". I have left a comment, and I'm interested to see a) if there is a response and b) the length of time on response.
Great start! Looking forward to seeing how this evolves!
